  1. harder to keep off quick losses

It’s not a risk to health or anything, more that the faster you lose it the harder it is to not gain it back.

Such is the problem with yo-yo dieting, the body starts to hoard fat and water to deal with binge/purge cycles.

Having said all that – 3.5 lb a week for a couple of weeks seems ok to me if in the overweight range, don’t expect or try to keep it up tho – I think 2lb a week is the usual recomended level (and obviously that decreases rapidly as your BMI approaches a good level)

Oh, I know about crash dieting. The thing is that I’m *not* dieting at all.

I’m just getting some proper exercise for the first time in several years. To be fair, this weekend was pretty extreme, for me – apart from the Wii Fit, I did 5 hours gardening on Saturday, and 3 hours (Wii) tennis on Sunday.

I do set my goals at 2lbs a week.

nice work, you probably already eat healthily then judging by the shopping lists that go past in my LJ friends page 😉

We do eat reasonably well, I think – we cook from scratch most days, and never buy convenience foods.
