and so it begins

despite having told ourselves we would watch The American President to kick it off, we couldn’t wait.

so last night we commenced our West Wing orgy – 3 episodes only, because perlmonger was knackered, and oh – I’d forgotten just how fresh and wonderful it was. I think it was codepope who first alerted us to it.

so – just for me, and behind a cut just in case it would be a spoiler for someone –
series 1, episodes 1-3.

POTUS falls off his bicycle, CJ falls off her running machine, Sam gets involved with a hooker call girl, Josh insults a member of the Xians (well *done*, Josh), Charlie gets hired after probably the first Bartlett moment, JB manages to be incredibly rude to the Xians (well *done*, JB), Mandy gets hired, we get our first glimpse of Hoynes being Hoynes, and trounced by Leo, JB “hires” Captain Doctor Tolliver who, inevitably, meets a sticky end in a bombed aircraft, thus resulting in JB’s first military thing, which very nearly goes horribly wrong. Enter also the wonderful Fitz, and Mrs Landingham (who both will be gone later), and Mallory, and Donna.

and I’m already going to feel very odd for the last episodes of series 7, with no Leo 🙁

oh, it’s so *good* – want to watch more *right now*.

  1. the “difficulty” with The American President (which I also love) is that there are the same people in it but with different names / positions. It makes things complicated!

    1. I’ve watched it so often that I don’t get confused – it’s one of my all time favourite movies. One of our comfort ones, in fact … 🙂

  2. no Leo …

.. I was terribly sad to hear about the passing of John Spencer … though I suppose he managed to do it “in character” through to the end.

We’re just watching the beginning of Josh running the next presidential election campaign (the shaking hands in New Hampshire primaries bit) over here in the UK.
