things ain't what they used to be

an article in today’s Scotsman tells us that there is a new, updated version of Monopoly to be release.

amongst other things:

  • the lowest denomination note is £10,000
  • they’ve changed the playing pieces – no more old boot
  • East End properties are now the second most expensive on the board
  • Do not pass go, do not collect *£2 million* pounds

all sounds ilke an Abomination to me …

  1. And no longer can you win a quick £20 from a beauty competition. Instead, the Chance cards allow you to celebrate winning £100,000 in a reality television show, or commiserate getting caught talking on your mobile phone – enough to get you a £150,000 fine.

    Ack! Ack! Ack! how awful.

  2. I think it’s a special edition, so the original will still exist. But yes, an abomination. (Though I admit to a wild hankering for some of the other ‘city’ editions.)
