so, last night I finally got round to vaping my W2K install, and putting XP Pro on my main workstation. Not an upgrade, oh no – a new install. So am in the process of installing hundreds of bloody applications, finding CDs, registration numbers, shareware progs, etc.

and in the middle of all this, my iPaq arrives. And I have to get four years’ worth of data off the Palm and on to the iPaq and I don’t have any of their apps installed yet, and I ought to be doing work for clients, and it’s a new toy, and and ….

I found it interesting what order I did start re-installing, though – first off was mIRC; can’t be too far away from techie friends when you’re building a new OS. Then a complete Office XP, on the basis that it would be good to get the reboots out of the way early.

then Mozilla, so I could read my mail,. Then Ameol for CIX, and The Bat! for POP3 mail, and Putty to see what was going on on the web server.

this morning I remembered that a virus checker might be a good idea, so did that, and am now soldiering on with sundry bits and bobs. And the iPaq is calling to me …
