nothing exciting to report

so, this new sofa then ...Continues apace. The new sofa bed arrived on Saturday – as you can see, it’s very Red, and has been tested by all the cats. This here is Lilith. The delivery men nearly did themselves getting it in, as it’s a sofa bed, and thus very heavy and not easy to get through our small hall, but they managed it.

We took the sofa cushions and covers to the tip yesterday, and Pete is dismembering the remains of it as I type. The living room looks really nice – and we have put up some festering decorations too.

We tried to go out for lunch on Saturday, but our favourite Iranian restaurant had been struck by the lurgy, and had no kitchen staff, which was a blow. Still, we did the greengrocery and deli run, and a pop into Aldi.

The small task of putting the extraneous book case (I know – astonishing, isn’t it) into the airing cupboard became a major job yesterday, as perlmonger had to rebuild the airing cupboard floor first. However, it’s done, and all the blank CDs and DVDs and stuff are in there, and things are *files in boxes* so I can find them again.

Nipped (or popped) down to Nailsea this morning to the farmers’ market – got a load of mixed game for New Year’s Eve dinner, some beautiful smoked buffalo cheese, a rather excellent smoked haddock (which we will have for lunch tomorrow with home made bread), and then more greengrocery (mushrooms, cranberries, some bean sprouts for nibbling, radishes). Also picked up more plastic boxes, to continue with Project Declutter

The christmas gammon is cooked, and I’m about to go and glaze and roast it, and I’m going to make some cranberry and apple chutney too.

This afternoon, I’ve posted my last eBay sale (£622 so far!), picked up milk and pigs in blankets and more tangerines from the Co-Op, and been to our wonderful village offy to order some wine. They choose us a dozen bottles, as they know what we like, then they deliver it, and then I go up and pay for it – all very civilised.
