lunchtime break

well, that was a pleasant interlude. Our new neighbours, Matt and Andrea (WANOLJ, AFAIK), have recently acquired a greyhound.

Blaze (for it is he), is seven years old, and had been in Holly Hedge, the local animal sanctuary, for five months, after being picked up as a stray.

he’s a greyhound, and we met him on Friday night – lovely dog, with a delightful personality. Last night, Andrea popped round to say that they were both going to be out for a long day, and could we possibly check Blaze at lunchtime.

so we donned coats, attached his lead, and took him for a brisk walk through the local woods for about half an hour. I don’t know which of us enjoyed it more, to be honest – it was a nice break for us, and certainly Blaze found plenty to sniff, and widdle on.

we shall tell Matt and Andrea that we will be delighted to walk Blaze when required. *And* they will feed the cats while we’re away this weekend – a win-win scenario, I think!

  1. Where’s the real Mac and who’s this domesticated imposter? 🙂

I’m glad you actually seem to have some decent neighbours!

    1. [suspicious] is that a moose in your icon, or are you just … oh, that doesn’t work, does it.

they’re lovely, M & A – we went for supper there on Friday night with a load of their friends. It’s so nice to have nice people living next door!

  2. My other half’s family have a wonderful ex-sanctuary dog – a greyhound/black lab cross that they got at about the age of 3 ‘cos he was too energetic for the people that had had him. He’s wonderfully handsome (think thinner black lab head on slightly less skinny greyhound body), terribly narcissistic and sort of schizo – half the time he’s greyhound-bright and wildly energetic, the other half he’s a typical sloppy daft black lab…. Slow memory, too, he growls at me like he’s never met me for a few minutes every time I meet him (and I’ve known him for four years!) and then remembers he knows me, and flops down in front of me and expects to be made a fuss of ;P
